Barnard Water Tower Update

I mentioned before that the Kansas Preservation Alliance in conjunction with the Kansas State Historical Society and federal agencies are willing to assist in the preservation of the Barnard water tower.  Material submitted to these agencies prompted replies that the Barnard water tower is not only a landmark for Barnard, but an architectural treasure far beyond the Barnard city limits.

We were requested by these agencies to gather documented support for the preservation of the water tower.  In the coming days, there will be opportunities to sign-up for support.  This is NOT a request for money, it is simply a request for you to add your signature to a form that states you do not want the water tower demolished.

If you are interested in signing the document of support, you may email us at:

barnardbanter@aol.com

We will mail or bring the sheet to you.  Please participate in this effort to keep another Barnard structure from becoming a fading memory.  Sooner or later, Barnard itself may become a faded memory if we fail to act.

Additionally, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation is being formed.  Incorporation papers and organizational by-laws are currently being drafted.  The purpose of the organization is to assist in preservation, economic, and service issues regarding the Barnard community.

Thank you for your support,
Travis Zirkle
